How Does the Individual Coaching Work?



The Mental Edge Performance Programs can take you to the next level through individualized coaching sessions. It begins by assessing strengths and weaknesses on the court, playing field or in the board room. The assessments provide key insights on areas to focus exercises that teach you to master performance anxiety and compete with a more relaxed focus.

Learn how to re-create your optimal performance state before matches or meetings. The development and practice of powerful personal “between-point” routines are essential. We all have that inner critic. Learning how to silence your negative thoughts is part of a process. Shift your focus like world-class pros do under pressure. Better understand your mental “traps” and develop a toolkit to perform at your peak.

Individual Consultations
These individual sessions observe your progress every week. Written evaluations are designed to track the effectiveness of imagery and relaxation training. Silencing the inner critic goes hand in hand with positive self-talk, regular routines, and goal setting. We’ll work together to identify personal blocks and create a new mental approach.

One-on-one sessions with Jeff, scheduled weekly for the initial phase of the work, provide a highly personalized experience for athletes and CEOs. Monthly retainers are also offered for highly motivated individuals, pro athletes, and CEOs. Sessions are conducted in the office, Skype or Zoom video, and on the court for tennis players. You’ll be encouraged to keep notes on your performance each week, fulfill your weekly “action” agreements and goals, and stay connected with Jeff in your personal mental training space online.

  • Distinguish between a mindset of mastery vs one that is excessively outcome-oriented.

  • Elevate awareness and prioritize focus on the controllables vs. the uncontrollables.

  • Establish values and clarify intentions.

  • Build the willingness to go out of your comfort zone and commit to your values.

  • Identify the 4 different dimensions of performance leading toward mastery.

  • Increase a sense of personal responsibility and build healthy and productive communication patterns with key team members.

  • Create self-regulation skills to recognize “state” change and improve your ability to reset and to be present.

  • Resolve inner conflict between personal/leadership values and stressors in the environment or tension with interpersonal dynamics.

  • Resolve personal issues and relationship stressors and improve the ability to focus and engage, despite the personal turmoil/distractions.
